Day 28
Whatever you ask
[So sorry this is arriving late today; we had a scheduling glitch.]
Every Sunday we’ll have these same prayer prompts and then a prayer drawn directly from the text:
Yahweh, I think I’m realizing that ___________
Yahweh, I’m feeling challenged to _______________
Yahweh, thank You for ______________________
Yahweh, I want more of _____________________
Yahweh, help me understand __________________
A Prayer from John 15:4-17
Jesus, all we want is to remain in You as You remain in us. To dwell with You as You dwell with us. To stay with You as You stay with us.
Meet us in the staying place.
Make us fruitful branches, attached, united, one with You. We refuse to try to be fruitful on our own. We refuse to strive for fruit. We refuse to try to fruit in our own power. We are entirely dependent on You.
Keep us with you…
When we try to run away.
When we get distracted.
When we get nervous.
Hold us tight.
We can do nothing without You. Remind us not to try.
We commit to remaining. Do not throw us aside like a branch, withered and then burned.
Let the Father be glorified by the harvest of our lives. Grow in us the fruit of Your Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
Unite us to You so fully that all we want is what You want. Teach us to ache for what You want until it becomes what we want. Give us what we want.
Father and Son, thank You for Your example of perfect love. Show us how to enter that love and live in that love. We want to keep your commands and stay with You. Empower us to do it.
Fill us with Your joy until we are fully and perfectly joyful.
We receive Your command to love one another as You have loved us. It’s all we want to do. We submit to love. We say yes to love. Forgive us when we don’t.
Thank You for calling us Your friends. They’re no greater privilege. Thank You for revealing Your heart and Your plans. Thank You for choosing us. Thank You for telling us about the Father, for giving us a picture of His character, for showing us His love.
We did not earn Your friendship. We didn’t even chose it. It’s all a gift—every grape on the vine is from You and because of You.
Jesus, You told us, “Whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.”
We ask in Your name, help us love one another.

Great prayer!
