Tomorrow!
Easter +1
Today is Easter, my favorite day of the year. I’ll worship with people I love today. I’ll feast with people I love today. I’ll celebrate Christ’s resurrection and the enduring life of Christ in which I live and move and have my being. Tonight I’ll gather with friends and make a toast. Glass in the air, I’ll share my answer to the prompt “Because Jesus died and rose again….”
What will I say?
I’m still deciding. Can I just say, “Because Jesus died and rose again… Everything”? I have nothing left (nothing of value, anyway) that isn’t because He died and rose again.
I hope your Easter has been beautiful. I hope it’s been part cold plunge and part warm towel. I hope there were tears. I hope you laughed. I hope you felt His love.
Tomorrow we begin our meditation on John 14-16. Before we do, I thought I’d pray this very simple prayer (drawn in part from 2 Corinthians 3:18). Would you pray it with me?
Yahweh,
Meet us in your word.
Unveil our faces.
Dwell with us.
Hold us in your love.
Transform us into your same image,
From glory to glory.
In the name and by the power of Jesus in whom we abide,
Amen.
See you tomorrow!

This reminded me of a famous quote from the church historian, Jaroslav Pelikan: “If Christ is risen, nothing else matters. And if Christ is not risen—nothing else matters.” Alleluia!
Beautiful Easter Vigil last night. One more service this morning... and then we hit the road to spend a week with our granddaughters
See y'all tomorrow.
